I sat down at a close friend's house and read this whole book. Now I am ordering a copy for myself to reread the whole thing. It is very entertaining and grapples with some very big issues. The only possible gripe I could see someone having would be the authors use of atheistic Buddhism (I do not mind it though). However, this does not detract from the authors wit and sharpness.
I am sorry if you think this is a simplistic review, but this is a really good book and I do not want to ruin it for you.
If you want to explore the idea of being an "enchanted naturalist" further, I would recommed: Carl Sagan's Varieties of Scientific Experiences, Richard Dawkin's The Ancestor's Tale, and Lawrence Krauss' Atom. All these books explore the wonder and humility studying nature brings.
